Timelapse Practice

The other night I decided to try a timelapse for the first time. This is the result. Not bad for a first try!

Super Bowl Weekend

This weekend I took full advantage of the Super Bowl. As everyone else in Seattle was getting ready for (and watching) the game, I was shooting cityscapes. The weekend started on Friday, when I met up with a good friend of mine, Jason (photosbyjasonwoo.com) and took some shots from his roof.

The real fun began on Sunday, when I drove around looking for interesting vistas. Somehow I ended up right back on Cap Hill, and had to shoot the outside of the Comet, a local dive bar.

After that, I headed north. Ended up across Lake Union, and took some shots of Downtown from that area. I played with some timelapses, but I wasn’t happy with what I was getting, and I had to run. Definitely going back there though.

My night concluded in Queen Anne, where I sat waiting for the verdict of the game. I knew that last year the Space Needle shot off fireworks once the Seahawks won, and I was hoping to get a similar shot. But as I continued to refresh the score on my phone, it looked like it wasn’t going to happen this year. So I decided to just start shooting some cityscapes instead.

But then… Fireworks! Seems like Seattle decided to shoot them off, regardless of whether or not the Seahawks won. Strange, but I wasn’t complaining!

Olympic Peninsula

This last weekend I explored the Olympic Peninsula for the first time. The spontaneous day trip opened my eyes to the rich variety of landscapes that are within my reach here in Seattle. All I can say is wow.

Driving up the eastern coast of the peninsula, we stopped first along a quiet rocky beach in a backwater eddy of Puget Sound. The calm skies and the placid water were the perfect backdrop for the first real photo of my new old car, a ‘98 Jeep Cherokee.

Following the beach, we continued to cruise along the coast, only to discover a queer sight: a bare tree covered in Christmas ornaments on the side of the highway. No idea who decorated it or why, but it was a strange sight.

Afterwards, we drove for a while and ended up on a Forest Service road, surrounded in a thick fog.

The last stop of our drive was on the drive back from the Forest Service road, where we discovered what appeared to be an abandoned logging camp of some sort.
